Fork Union Military Academy this week announced four new members had been selected for induction into its Sports Hall of Fame at an awards banquet to be held on June 25, 2016. As in past years, the induction ceremony for the Sports Hall of Fame from this nationally-recognized boarding school in central Virginia will feature a high-power class from the world of athletics, record holders at professional and college levels of performance, with names that are known around the world.

The Fork Union alumni selected for induction this year are John Dorsey ('80), former linebacker for the Green Bay Packers and currently the General Manager of the Kansas City Chiefs; the late Jon Richardson ('78), wide receiver at the University of North Carolina and the Director of Stadium Operations for the Carolina Panthers; Dale Solomon ('78), one of the Top 10 basketball players ever to play for Virginia Tech who still holds the record for points in a season by a freshman (534) and who enjoyed a long professional career in basketball; and Robert Jones ('88), the All-American linebacker at East Carolina who was the first-round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys, named NFC Rookie of the Year in 1992, and won three Super Bowl rings with the Cowboys in a ten-year NFL career.

The Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 6:30 PM at the Doubletree Hotel in Charlottesville, Virginia. Will Blair, a 1986 graduate of Fork Union Military Academy and a Senior Vice President with the William Morris Endeavor/IMG Global Partnership Group, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event.

Other weekend events will include the Sports Hall of Fame Golf Classic on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Old Trail Golf Club in Crozet, Virginia, a captain's choice style tournament that will be a fundraiser for the Academy's scholarship funds. A reception and silent auction will be held that Friday evening at Old Trail Golf Club. A Saturday brunch on campus for past and incoming inductees and their guests, and a VIP reception Saturday afternoon at the Doubletree Hotel rounds out this very full weekend of Hall of Fame activities.

Tickets and sponsorship opportunities for the banquet, golf tournament, and receptions are available for individuals and organizations by contacting the Fork Union Military Academy Development Office at 434-842-4227.
