Cadet Michael Head celebrates his First Place victory in Student Congress at State Tournament.

Thirteen cadets from Fork Union Military Academy competed in the Virginia Catholic Forensics League state tournament held at Fluvanna County High School on March 12th. Michael Head earned First Place in Student Congress. Head, a junior, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher T. Head of Roanoke, Virginia. Head will travel to Sacramento, California to compete at the national tournament in May.

He was joined in the top ten in Student Congress by three other cadets from Fork Union: Joshua Henriques (7th Place) , a sophomore from West Nyack, New York; Ozz Ben-David (8th Place), a junior from Sherman Oaks, California; and Chongkai Wu (10th Place), a junior from Shanghai, China. The Academy's debate team placed 4th overall in team standings at the state tournament.

"Fork Union Military Academy has the #1 Student Congress member in the state and, as a team, we have four of the top ten Congress students in the state," said debate team coach, CPT Mike Goad, "and I could not be more proud of them. We had thirteen young men come back early from their spring break to participate-this is a true testament to their commitment to the school and the debate program."
