Date:  Monday, July 20, 2020

Our registration and check-in procedures have been modified significantly from previous years in light of COVID-19 concerns. Please review this page carefully.

What day do I check in?

This year we will have four check-in dates.

August 3Cadet Leadership Training Reports

August 7Soccer Players Report

August 10New Cadets and Prep & Postgraduate Football Players Report

August 11Returning Cadets Report

What time do I check in?

You will need to schedule your Check-In / Registration time slot through our Online Admissions Parent Portal. Instructions for accessing your Parent Portal account have been emailed to all enrolling families.

Where and how do we check in?

  1. When you arrive at the entrance to our campus, you will be met by a parking attendant. You will be given a health symptoms check form and directed to your reserved parking space.

  2. Once parked in your designated space, you will remain in your vehicle until an admissions attendant arrives to help direct you to begin the check-in process.

  3. During the indoor parts of the check-in process, families are permitted only ONE parent/guardian to accompany their son indoors.

  4. While indoors, all persons are required to follow Virginia's face covering laws in place at that time, physical distancing protocols, and document signing procedures to mitigate the safety of the environment.

  5. Check-in stations will be completed in separate classrooms and hand sanitizing stations will be at the entrance of each room. Separate entrances and exits will be maintained in each classroom.

  6. Hand sanitizing and cleaning practices will be completed after each family.

  7. After completion of the check-in process, families will return to their vehicle and drive to their son’s assigned company within the barracks.

  8. Only the cadet or employee of the Academy will be permitted to move items into their assigned room.

  9. After their son has moved in, parents will say their goodbyes and depart campus.

Please review this short video describing the check-in process...

Can you help us with transportation to campus from the airport, train station, or bus terminal?

Our Commandant's Department is available to assist you in arranging ground transportation from the area's airports, train stations, and bus terminals. We provide these services, at additional cost, for our check-in days as well as our major leaves throughout the year. Please contact Amy Reese by email at reesea@fuma.org or by phone at 434.842.4233 to arrange transportation. You may learn more about fees for ground transportation provided by Fork Union Military Academy on the Commandant's Department page of our website

What do we need to bring with us?

Official Transcript

Students who are registering for the first time at Fork Union Military Academy should bring an original copy of their most current official school transcript to registration. If you have questions regarding this, please contact our admissions office at 434-842-4205 or email admissions@fuma.org.

Personal Items

There are also certain items of clothing, toiletries, and personal effects that you should bring for your boarding cadet.

School Supplies

You may wish to bring standard school supplies (pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, etc.). We do not provide a detailed list of required school supplies, as the items needed for any specific classes may differ. Most needed supplies are available in the Quartermaster's Office.

Does my son need to have a haircut?

All cadets are required to have a regulation military-style haircut and be clean-shaven at all times while at Fork Union Military Academy.

We recommend that your cadet arrive on campus with a regulation haircut, as described here on our barber shop page. We understand that this might not be possible, depending on COVID-19 restrictions in your area.

Our barber shop will be open on check-in days and our barber will be available to give a regulation haircut to arriving cadets after they have moved in to their barracks room and their parents have departed. All barber fees for our barber shop are included in the cost of tuition.

Do international students need to contact someone before check-in?

Please contact Mrs. Jackie Montero-Sharpe, our Director of International Enrollment, at international@fuma.org or by phone at 434.842.4202 as soon as possible to confirm that all required paperwork is in order. Please send Mrs. Montero-Sharpe your flight details and arrival time to campus by August 7th.
