Every Friday the Fork Union Military Faculty and Staff meet to nominate a few who have exceeded the standards and demonstrated superlative performance. Whilst we have various awards and recognitions - a simple "Well Done!" we hope, is also appreciated. The combination of the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags, i.e., Bravo Zulu, also referred to as "BZ," is a naval signal, typically conveyed by flag hoist or voice radio, meaning "Well Done" with regard to actions, operations or performance.
The following are the Bravo Zulu awards for this week:
Cadet Sergeant Connor Smith is a first-year cadet and squad leader for third platoon in Alpha Company. He is a boarding student from Midlothian, Virginia. Cadet Smith pitched an outstanding game versus Trinity Episcopal School on Wednesday to earn the 4-3 victory. Cadet Smith is a leader in the classroom, on the field, and in the barracks. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Smith!
Cadet Sergeant Joshua “Casey” Labasky is a second-year cadet and squad leader for first platoon in Alpha Company. He is a boarding student form North Chesterfield, Virginia. Cadet Labasky went 4-for-4 at the plate, including a double in the sixth inning that scored the game-winning runs against Trinity Episcopal School. The junior also recorded a team-high nine defensive plays that helped secure the victory for the Blue Devils. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Labasky!
Cadet Second Lieutenant Jackson Manglicmot is a seventh-year cadet in Bravo Company. He is a day student from Palmyra, Virginia. Cadet Manglicmot is on the prep baseball team and helped his team defeat Trinity Episcopal School with a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. In the top of the 7th inning, Cadet Manglicmot took the mound and got the final out with two on base to record the save for the Blue Devils. He plans on going to the University of Tennessee next year and will pursue a degree in Sports Management. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Manglicmot!
Cadet Private Tommy Pham is a sixth-year cadet in Alpha Company. Cadet Pham is a day student from Palmyra Virginia. He is the anchor on the defense and brick wall in the goal for the lacrosse team, helping secure an 18-6 win with eight saves against Fluvanna this past Wednesday on Senior Day. Cadet Pham will graduate next week and will serve our country in the US Army. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Pham!
Cadet Private Aiden Bailey is a first-year cadet in Alpha Company. He is a boarding student from Glen Allen, Virginia. Cadet Bailey has been the offensive star for the prep lacrosse team this year, leading the team in scoring. Cadet Bailey helped lead the Blue Devils to an 18-6 victory over cross-town rivals, Fluvanna on Wednesday, with three goals and one assist. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Bailey!
Cadet First Lieutenant Sa’eed Dasher is a third-year cadet in Charlie Company. He is a boarding student from Manassas, Virginia. Cadet Dasher joined the Academy during the 3rd term and was selected to be the Platoon Leader for third floor Charlie Company. He has made a positive impact since his arrival, making third platoon one of the best within Charlie Company. Third Platoon’s drill performance increased tenfold and Cadet Dasher was an intricate part of Charlie Company winning the Best Drilled Company competition. He was nominated during the rank selection boards to fill in as the interim Company Commander for Charlie Company next academic year. His charisma, leadership, and perseverance will continue to develop the middle school cadets and cadets within the Corps. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Dasher!
