Every Friday the Fork Union Military Faculty and Staff meet to nominate a few who have exceeded the standards and demonstrated superlative performance. Whilst we have various awards and recognitions - a simple "Well Done!" we hope, is also appreciated. The combination of the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags, i.e., Bravo Zulu, also referred to as "BZ," is a naval signal, typically conveyed by flag hoist or voice radio, meaning "Well Done" with regard to actions, operations or performance.
The following are the Bravo Zulu awards for this week:
Cadet Christopher Mulder is a junior and first-year cadet in Bravo Company. He is a boarding student from Sanford, NC and a member of our Prep Football and Track teams. Upon returning from Christmas Leave, Cadet Mulder volunteered to help clean snow and ice off sidewalks and the dining hall pathway and steps before other students arrived. His initiative and hard work ensured cadets arrived at a safe and hazard-free environment. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Mulder!
Cadet Sergeant Colton Childers is a freshman and first-year cadet in Charlie Company. He is a boarding student from Isle of Palms, SC. After returning from Christmas Leave, he voluntarily assumed the role of “NCO of the Day”. Cadet Childers fulfilled the commitment with tact and enthusiasm. He was extremely helpful to Commandant Staff and was courteous to family members needing assistance. Bravo Zulu, Sergeant Childers!
Cadet Private Trevor Shirk is a seventh grader and first-year cadet in Charlie Company. He is a boarding student from Mohnton, PA. As he was preparing to depart on leave, Cadet Shirk noticed that it had started raining which threatened to damage an outdoor cadet art display set up for parents as they arrived on campus. Cadet Shirk took the initiative to move the display and supplies indoors to ensure the art his fellow cadets had worked so hard on was not destroyed. Bravo Zulu, Cadet Shirk!
Go FUMA!
